Honestly misread this as "Kids Cannonball" and was quite disappointed that KidsCan is not, in fact, organising a Cannonball Run for Kids.

Excellent satire accompanying a photo of "angry" business owner at Goodboy Sammies. "PSA: Wellington City Council is in the process of establishing a shared bus & cycle lane to run along Riddiford St adjacent to our shop. Consequently, we have made the decision to close our doors for good. Cyclists are relentless extremophile beasts that have evolved to thrive without the need to consume food or fluids. They are a maniacal cult that has become hell bent on bringing down the hospitality industry tracing back to the inception of the bicycle. We can no longer continue to sustain the business with the knowledge that hundreds of locals including cyclists, pedestrians and bus goers simply cannot compete with the purchasing power of an eastern suburbs home owner with 6 litre testicles in a Mitsubishi Triton. We strongly encourage WCC to reassess this project and address the genuine needs of the Newtown community by transforming Riddiford St into a six lane 120km/h highway with 24hr designated parking for agricultural machinery"

Cycle lanes are officially bogeyman for people who don't understand why their previously successful businesses are failing. There ISN'T a cyclelane on Wakefield St. There aren't even bikes on Wakefield bc it's too dangerous.
