He's a solid coach. But all I would see is a selfish, two-faced man if he came groveling back to OSU after being fired by MSU. He left and further damaged Beaver Nation by choice, when he was needed the most. The Smith era is history. Leave it that way. Hard pass.

Never gonna happen! He not only burned that bridge, he nuked the entire program on his way out. Most boosters wouldn't want him cleaning the stadium, let alone walking the sidelines again.

Technically true, it is a national championship. But most historical references give the NIT's winner, Long Island, "the" national championship that year, since the best teams were in the NIT then. As a matter of fact, Sister Jean's team, Loyola Chicago, was the runner-up to Long Island in 1939.
