If you’ve seen the documentary High Fidelity (John Cussak etc), I’m almost certain they renamed me Dick. I really think one should be consulted about this shit too, even if they swapped Real Groovy Auckland for Championship Vinyl Chicago everybody knew.

Apparently the Post-WW2 German Airforce jacket I was wearing might be a WW2 jacket… slightly problematic. Oops.

Surface of the Earth playing live 14th June Ponsonby Auckland. I reviewed the reissued album in the Beat Mod'n'Rocker but that's physical media and I drone on for way more words than Bluesky allows... I used to have a myspace? Umm... substack maybe? Anyway, Surface of the Earth... free noise.

@lukethomas.bsky.social Just heard you raving on ‘70s films. You’ll dig this book ‘A Cinema of Lonliness’ by Robert Kolker.

Junk shop find last week… hobby’s are the best (now I’ve matured and don’t have a toddler melt down over minor mistakes!)

Decided a Radio Birdman tattoo is needed.
Feeling very grown up because I suddenly thought… if Vonnie is cool with it. Cos it’s a “we” not a “me” thing.
Finally at 51, I’m beginning to sometimes remember I’m not the be all and end all centre of everything.
Shocking stuff… going to take a nap.

There is something appealing about putting a bunch of restrictions in place before trying to create art… recording to tape you really have to plan it out, and make everything as perfect as possible. With digital you can just click undo and have another go. Probably deluded but I worry I’d get lazy.

This really did my head in… I had no clue. Says they had 5000 new sign ons a month! In the mid/late 1980s!

Turns out mathematics is not like riding a bike.
Before you offer to tutor teens (who are fucking mean, and apparently throwing hands is now frowned upon) check you still understand stuff like “the regression line of y on x”. Still, bet these kids can’t bust out Daniel Johnson on the uke!

A Eric “I’m into some weirdo shit man” Davis book looking at Philip K Dick, Terence McKenna and Robert Anton Wilson, the philosophical base for getting zoinked outta your tiny mind in the 70s. I might need to try the Dead again, every year I give them a go. I just don’t get it, besides Dark Star!

Also… I’m totally straight, but yeah Chuck can get it, anytime.

NZ Labour toned down the more overt socialist parts of the mission statement, doesn’t mean us members did.
Next 3&1/2 yrs will be a constant struggle, but never forget, world wide, we stand with you. Bx
