Rural Healthcare (country people need healthcare too!), bears, politics and social issues, technology, food and an inane fascination with the mundane. He/him.
One of the nice things about Kalgoorlie is that I got to see my nephew Bernie and to meet Kira during an evening at one of the main pubs in town!

The Umpherston Sinkhole in Mount Gambier, South Australia. A limestone cave that collapsed and was turned into a private garden in 1886 and is now a public space you can walk into!

Blue Lake, Mount Gambier, South Australia. I managed to get out of work before sundown and check it out. It's a crater lake and so pretty!

I was back in Sydney for just under 36 hours and got to Harbour City Bears on a Sunday afternoon. Back with my people again, before heading to South Australia and Western Australia over the next couple of weeks!

I get to enjoy one morning of daylight saving in Sydney on the Harbour just long enough to head to Rockhampton tonight and lose it again!
October 5, 2025 at 12:47 AM
With Ian, in our usual coffee shop in Wolli Creek!
September 26, 2025 at 12:22 PM
Mario and I now have a habit of going to hang out at various places around the Harbour. This time, Huntley's Point.

Good morning Sydney! All my teaching courses are done for the year, and now I get to enjoy a week at home and jog to the Harbour every day for a coffee. It's the little things that I have missed, being on the road so much.

Because i am still not stopping, here I am in Adelaide, about to drive out to Berri, but stopping in to see Mal, Nev and Vince!

After 10 days working at the hospital in Derby, Western Australia, it's time to head back to Sydney for a night at home. Here I am at the Jetty a couple of days ago. Sunsets here are spectacular, and this photo doesn't do it justice.

I come all the way to the other side of the country and I run into friends from a few suburbs away! Dale and Michael are working their way around the Northern Territory and Western Australia. Here we are at the Derby Jetty on a Sunday afternoon.

On the Great Northern Highway between Broome and Derby, Western Australia. These are termite mounds, and there are thousands of them all around me. Incredible. Also, hello, Western Australia! Here for the next 11 days.

An afternoon roaming along Harbour Parks with Tom and Michael.

Back in South Australia for a week for work. Stopping in on the drive to Berri to catch up with Robin, whom I haven't seen since the 2010s!

It's a little windy today!
June 25, 2025 at 1:05 AM
Stopping off to say hello to Nigel and Martin in rural Victoria on the way home to Sydney after a long shift in Wangaratta.
June 18, 2025 at 6:13 AM
I thought I might get more time off to recover, but it seems that hospitals are desperate. I am finding myself flying to Melbourne and then driving to Wangaratta for a 24 hour shift tomorrow. Melbournians, this is a land at Tullamarine and drive out into rural Victoria, so catch you next time!

If you visit Kuala Lumpur and you don't go to the Petronas Towers at night, did you really visit KL? They shine in a way that you can't capture on camera. You can't help but feel how grand they are.

Good morning Kuala Lumpur! Waiting to get into my hotel room and have a nap, but for now, just taking in this view!

See, I can be a tourist in India and not just see bears on my travels! Humayun’s Tomb, the National Museum, and Red Fort. If you are wondering why my face was flushed all the time, it was INSANELY hot. (@Delhi, India)
June 8, 2025 at 4:36 PM
Going out to dinner with Amit and Edgar in Delhi, India, and discovering the gem that is the National Sports Club here. Amit and I have a lot of history in shared fields and careers and every time we catch up is amazing. One of my kindred spirits in this world.

A quite couple of days in Brussels with friends, including Andy who came over from the UK, Chris who came in from the coast, and Fillipos whom I kept chatting with on the coatcheck at Stammbar in the wee hours of the morning. Brussels felt like I was back home again!
