Woke since 1946. Retired and now take care of my sister’s 7 rescued horses. I’m getting old and I don’t respond to personal messages. Remembering the 1950s and 60s, women and minorities were respected a lot less than they are now. I don’t want to go back.

My family would have stayed in Canada. My parents put earnest money down on a new house. It was shocking that it was all gone. My father had 4 boys to support and went where he could make similar money. The culture shock was heavy on me. We left relatives and friends behind.

No we don’t. It should be taught as American history.

20 years ago I went to an exhibit on black war heroes. It took my breath away. I had never read their stories before.

A horse died. His companion stopped eating. A vet said he had an infection that couldn’t be treated. Against my parent’s will I got a donkey. The grieving horse looked at him, threatened him then ate grass so the donkey couldn’t have it. They became inseparable friends.

I’m happy to hear that.

Since then I worked with women on an equal basis for equal pay.

I think so. My father had to accept offers from the USA when Avro died. It was no fun moving to a country where people were being lynched in 1959.

She was a racehorse abandoned in a field when my sister rescued her. Hayla rules the herd. They run from her if she’s riled up.

Cool. She and the others are from the Warm Springs reservation in Oregon.

Once you live through the Great Darkness this time of year, you’ll be okay.
