I got an email from the author promoting this benchmark comparison of #julialang + StanBlocks + #enzyme vs #stan runtimes.

StanBlocks is a macro package for Julia that mimics the structure of a Stan program. This is the first I've heard about it.

A considerable number of these models are […]

If the amount of publications is the metric of success we'll see the priority given to amount of papers, decrease of quality, retractions, and predatory publishing that feeds on this. Funding and research time will be wasted.

Had the same experience on Twitter. Collaborations, postdoc offers, talks, awards, etc. all came from being an active member of the academic Twitter community. It’s hard to imagine recreating that anywhere else.
I got *really* lucky that twitter peaked during the early phase of my career. The opportunities I got from old twitter are gone for those who are now starting out their academic careers, which is sad. I hope something takes the place of old twitter. Maybe here?

Hey @bsky.app can we *please* get a 'turn of replies' as a 'by selected user' feature?

I follow some people who seem to need to engage with every barking dog in the universe---and repeatedly so. The 'all replies' or 'all replies under N likes' do not cut it. Love, Dirk
