Bipartisan laws for fisheries resulted in greater sustainability and profits in the US. Successes due to fishers, NGOs, and of course the many dedicated NOAA and state scientists collecting data, assessing status, and setting catch levels.

Wonderful to have played a small part in this new paper showing minimal effects of catch & release angling on three key species of #sharks in UK waters. Huge thanks and well done to @garzonfrancesco.bsky.social & the team @exetermarine.bsky.social for leading this work #sharkscience 👏 🦈

For the past 4 years I have worked with a wonderful team of scientists and anglers to track sharks in recreational fisheries. With close to 70 tags deployed, we found that good angling practice can result in pretty high survival for sharks! 🦈🎣🌊

Another excellent and important paper in our journal. Why not consider publishing your next piece of research with us 🐟 🪸🦈🐚
A new JMBA paper offers the most detailed look yet at the Asian date mussel in UK waters. Researchers found that while densities remain low in the Solent, the species is growing fast (≈1.8 mm/month) and living longer (up to 23 months) than in many parts of its range.
