Agreed. It also works as an incentive for giving them access to new markets where there is development that needs heating infrastructure, for example. Utilities (and their shareholders) make $ on new infrastructure capital investment, not O&M, so moderate network expansion may be important.

Converting them from gas utilities to regional heating utilities and incentivizing them to do electrification and install heat pumps and district heating using renewables like geothermal is a good way. The companies may even continue to exist, but change services slightly.

Isn't there a Supreme Court case about this, that lifetime disenfranchisement is unconstitutional? After your sentence has been served you get your voting right back. Someone must remember this or have the citation.

The age absolutely should be lower than 50! Especially now, because the science indicates that COVID increases your likelihood of developing shingles. I am "too young" for the vax but got it about 6 weeks after a Covid bout. Trigeminal neuralgia=OWW 😰
