@bcfed.bsky.social
The voice of working people in British Columbia, made up of BC unions representing more than half a million workers
Today, we remember those who’ve fallen in wars past and present: those who fought, those who laboured, and those who simply tried to keep their families alive. They died on battlefields, in factories and in streets, schools and houses.

Today we remember. And we recommit ourselves to ending all war.

Solidarity with @cupwsttp.bsky.social postal workers! They're back on the picket line to defend a crucial Canadian service—one that helps connect us at a time when we need it most. And they're fighting for the livelihoods of the people who make it happen. We're behind them 100%.

@susibcfed.bsky.social testified at the House of Commons Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities this morning about BC Ferries' decision to build its next 4 major ferries in China. Her message: "Buy BC" should mean projects that should be built here instead. #BCLab 🧵

A lot of BC workers are on the job today in the middle of heat and air quality warnings. These conditions can lead to serious health issues like heat exhaustion, heat stroke and respiratory problems. #BCLab 🧵

Labour Day reminds us of the power we have when we organize and stand together.

It should also remind decision-makers what really powers our economy, and who it needs to serve. Because for a long time, our economy has been leaving a lot of working people behind.

Let's change that. #BCLab 🧵

With workers in many parts of BC going to their jobs this morning under a heat warning, and Canada only partway through our second-worst wildfire season yet, the urgency of the climate crisis was firmly on our minds. (2/4)

Instead, they've united our movement from coast to coast to coast. They've brought workers and the public together behind @cupe_scfp flight attendants and their struggle.

Workers are prepared to negotiate. But we aren't prepared to roll over. (3/4)

And sure enough, yesterday morning the Liberals delivered: violating workers' Charter rights by invoking section 107 of the Canada Labour Code to end the @cupescfp.bsky.social flight attendants' strike.

They thought flight attendants would just accept this betrayal. They thought we all would. (2/4)
