The 1970s were prosperous for most Canadians. This was no accident. Progressive taxation, investment in public goods, strong labour institutions made it that way. 40 years of trickle-down #neoliberalism dismantled it. #Budget2025 goes even further. We need to rebuild our Socially-Conscious System.
Shows the following text: 1. Correct the Bad Distribution of Income: Structural Policies The goal here is to build a economy where prosperity is broadly shared, reducing the excessive pool of capital that chases speculative bubbles. Progressive Taxation: Using tax policy on income, capital gains, and especially wealth and inheritance to reduce extreme concentrations at the top. The aim is not to punish success, but to ensure that the benefits of economic growth are more widely distributed and that the state has revenue for public investment. Strong Labor Institutions: Supporting the ability of workers to organize into unions and bargain collectively for higher wages and better benefits. A strong middle class with purchasing power is the best foundation for stable, sustainable economic growth. Investment in Public Goods: Direct government investment in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and research. This does two things: it directly creates good jobs and economic activity, and it increases the human capital and productivity of the entire population, leading to higher wages.

#histbookchat Had hoped this book would show how Canada evolved from racist White Dominion to multiculturalism. It doesn't. Starting in 1945, it mostly avoids the former. Instead, this is a laudatory portrayal of Establishment political rhetoric shaping the aspirational myth of Canada the Good.

Yes, in this sample, the grid lines are too thick for my taste. I was trying to get the AI to come up with something like this, but it wouldn't after 5 tries, even though I specified an 8x10 grid. And when I gave it this sample, it used some of the elements from it, when I told it not to. Aiya!
