These actions too directly erode the authority and role of Congress. By remaining silent in the face of this destruction, you are complicit in the death of the Constitution and the rise of an American dictatorship. The American people are watching as these threats to our democracy unfold, and yet there has been little to no meaningful action from Congress. Your inaction is allowing our nation’s founding principles and our laws to be trampled upon. This is not just an issue of political disagreement, it is a matter of life or death for our country. This is a coup and I beg you to act for there is no room for complacency. The American people deserve better. You must act now to protect the agencies that serve this nation and prevent further destruction. Furthermore, it is time to demand accountability for those who are exploiting our resources for their own gain. If you are truly concerned about waste and corruption, you should pass legislation to end Trump’s extravagant trips, and stop allowing the wealthy to take advantage of our system at the expense of everyday Americans. I urge you to stop the unanimous consent in the Senate, and to reject any budget proposal that slashes critical social services like Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare, simply to benefit the richest among us. Your actions, or inactions, will determine the future of our democracy. I await your response, and I hope you will take immediate action to stand up for the American people and protect the very fabric of our nation.
