I absolutely get that! But taking down the guy who actually did something for our morale because he was political on a minor nomination vote seems well strange to me. Even if the filibuster was performative in some way, we needed it.

Trump parrots back the last thing that was said to him. In this case Zelenskyy got the last word. We’ve seen this a thousand times with Trump where he suddenly says something normal and everyone thinks this is actually a new permanent position of his. A day later it changes again.

A big reason is that the demands were ridiculous even by Trump standards. I wish I’m wrong but I suspect had they steered clear of messing with Harvards hiring and acceptance policies the outcome would have been different. Forcing Harvard to resist was a gift.
