Yeah it can be a pain. If you're part of a community that tracks and reviews clients in your industry, it helps me mentally to mark myself as whatever is equivalent to a freelancer works with new clients that have no working history and/or protect the community from potential or verified scammers.

Don't feel bad about setting boilerplate TOS! Your work deserves to be treated at a certain baseline of standards that anyone can and should be demanding in exchange for their time and work.
