Ok, bean time! Here's the vegetables for the base- a mix of celery, onions, and peppers. Yes, green bell peppers would be more authentic, but I'm using poblanos and a few sweet red peppers, cause I've got them in the fridge.

An octopus. Obviously a magic one that can live amphibiously.
My one tattoo (so far) just after it was finished. It takes up my whole upper left arm, and it's an image of a large, red octopus, surrounded by underwater foliage, and also, it's playing a trombone.

I made moussaka the other day. It was very tasty.
The finished moussaka- a large casserole dish with layered sliced eggplant, meat sauce, and topped with a creamy topping- I used a cauliflower puree, for extra vegetables, and so I could pretend that it's healthy. Topped with panko bread crumbs, baked till golden. A large skillet with a batch of Greek-inspired meat sauce (ground lamb and beef, stewed with tomatoes, carrots, and onions, and spiced with cinnamon, clove, allspice, and nutmeg), to be used as moussaka filling. Sliced eggplants sitting on sheet trays, salted so that they give up some extra moisture

Finding joy in the little things in these dark times. Don't apologize for wanting comfort food now and then.
On the right, a platter of chicken wings. On the left, a dish of carrot and celery sticks, and a small ramekin of blue cheese dressing. The wings are homemade- I broiled them for about 20 minutes, flipping every 5. The sauce is a variation on classic Buffalo- hot sauce and melted butter, but i used Valentina instead of Franks, and I added a little sugar, because sweet-tangy-spicy slaps.

A cassowary is pretty much just a dinosaur.
A Cassowary behind a chain-link fence at a local zoo. A cassowary is a large, flightless bird- standing maybe between 3.5 and 4 feet (a little over 3 meters) tall, it's not as large an an emu. But, with its long blue neck, wispy black feathers, a bony structure on top of its head, and powerful legs with huge claws, it looks a lot like a dinosaur.

I make pretty good pizza.
A pizza sitting on a cutting board to cool off for a minute before we dive in. Plus a roasting tray with asparagus on the side. The pizza is a round cast-iron skillet pan pie, with basil-arugula-pistachio pest, topped with mozzarella, shiitake and oyster mushrooms, and sun-dried tomatoes. Very 90s.

The artwork of Bahamut from Final Fantasy. This is maybe my favorite Bahamut design from the series- a large, majestic dragon- a blue body with a gold belly, and multiple wings featuring intricate gold, red, and orange feathers. Sky Fortress Bahamut, from Final Fantasy XII. The Bahamut here is the name of a massive airship, tall and narrow, almost like a flying skyscraper. The design itself is really cool, but naming it the Bahamut feels more like an Easter egg to me, than anything that the design of the ship actually invokes.

What makes a man, Mr. Lebowski?
A page of the bass trombone part to Mozart's Requiem, specifically the 'Lacrymosa' movement. This is one of the more iconic parts of the piece, and has been used in many film soundtracks, in order to create a somber mood, or a parody of a somber mood. It shows up early on in The Big Lebowski, in a scene where the titular Big Lebowski is sitting in a darkened room, mourning the kidnapping of his wife, Bunny. Once The Dude (aka Jeffrey Lebowski) enters the room with him, the Big Lebowski asks The Dude, 'What makes a man, Mr. Lebowski?'

It's so much fun! The trombone parts are banging, since we spend the whole piece reinforcing the lower voices in the choir. We're playing more or less the whole time.
