The soldiers pedaled to Yellowstone from Fort Missoula, Montana on one-speed bikes, while carrying their food, utensils, weapons, ammo, clothes, tools, bedrolls, and tents. They crossed the Continental Divide twice on the trip. After getting to Fort Missoula, their round trip was 800 miles.
