Agree here. We should be fighting all of the anti democratic norms such as filibuster, blue slips, electoral college, gerrymandering. All of these have contributed to how we got to the current situation of entrenched minority rule.
It is true that the democratic system – much like society more generally – runs on norms and not just laws and regulations. And no one understands better than the radical operatives on the Right how much power you can wield – and how much harm you can cause – by simply ignoring norms.

I would go so far as to say the Hunter Biden pardon was the only proper thing to do in this situation. Hunter’s prosecution was political and bullshit.

The debate over the pardon reminds us that especially in the last decade Democrats have been mired in a debate that has at least some parallels to "respectability politics" discourse in the African-American community. Democrats must manage some generally unachievable level of purity.
