Facebook friends: Wow. Receiving notices every day on Mesgr that it's going away as a stand-alone service, as of 12/14. One will have to be logged in and using Eff-book to use the chat. So... I hope all will come here instead. Looks like characters are limited, so we'll have to get terse.

Are the bots developing attitudes?

Coding assistant Cursor AI refused to write the code one of its users requested, saying, “You should develop the logic yourself. This ensures you understand the system and can maintain it properly.”
An AI Coding Assistant Refused to Write Code—and Suggested the User Learn to Do It Himself
The old “teach a man to fish” proverb, but for AI chatbots.

Alito, Thomas, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, Barrett, Roberts—they’ve unleashed this monster.
So now that a judge is under attack, Chief Justice John Roberts wakes up to push back. Wasn’t he the guy who wrote immunity was needed so the President wouldn’t be deterred “from taking the bold and unhesitating action required of an independent Executive”? Like what you did now, Justice Roberts?

That's something some people never learn. "Doing a geographic" only can work if it's not yourself you're running from.

It took seeing adult bullies to understand that my childhood bullies didn’t even really want to hurt me, they just wanted to feel powerful and how I felt about it wasn’t even in the equation.

I can’t imagine someone not outgrowing that, but apparently it happens quite a lot!

If you're not sure why people at the National Weather Service are being fired, that's been a GOP goal for some time. This is from Project 2025, which argues the NWS should focus on selling weather data - not free forecasts and weather warnings.

Yeah, I'm never getting on another airplane.🤦🏼‍♀️
The FAA has agreed to use SpaceX’s Starlink internet system to manage US airspace.

Yet another contract for Elon Musk to profit from while he's slashing funding for others.

The conflict of interest is appalling.

Okay February, you seem nice, but I just got out of a VERY toxic relationship with January so I’m not looking for anything too serious right now. So we can hang, we can have some fun, but the second you make me cry I am OUT

Hey #MedSky I'm writing a long-form piece on how bad prior authorization has become, and how burdensome it is on patients and docs. Can you share:
—A story (without PHI)
—The amount of time/$$ you spend
—The most ridiculous thing you've had to argue for
—etc

(And please share this post)

From the Sun-Times Editorial Board:

"With millions of Americans depending on the USPS to deliver medicines, checks and other important items along with cards, letters and packages, the Postal Service is too important to sacrifice," writes the CST Editorial Board.
Here's hoping Trump doesn't deliver on ideas to privatize the U.S. Postal Service
Taking the country's troubled but constitutionally-enshrined mail and placing it on the hands of the private operators is a cure that's far worse than the ailment.
