"Mother's Day Blooms, Take Two"
Stuck them in a Ball jar. Used a few pastel sticks for details on flowers, but 90% pan pastels, 12 x 9 on gray Pastelmat.

May 12. No 223 of #mydailypainting. Yes, I worked more today, but still only with the Pans. Mostly I fine tuned stuff, tried to bring the front sunflower forward more, tweaked the apples, added some separation to the baby's breath, etc. little stuff. Done.

"My Mother's Day Blooms" 12 x9 on anthracite pastelmat, entirely with PanPastels. I did it from life, freehand, no sketch. Might leave this as is, then do a 2nd, my traditional way, tomorrow. Or maybe finish this with soft pastels. We'll see.

"Happy Mother's Day" . 8 x 6 on mauve Pastelmat from my own photo. It was actually a Valentine's Day table, hence the Hershey's kisses, but works today too. 2nd photo is the Pan Pastel underpainting. Cool, eh?

"Portrait of a Girl" from photos I took yesrs ago at a sports event. This is @8" x 6", on mauve Pastelmat, ENTIRELY with Pan Pastels, using only one of their sponge tools, in 2nd photo. No prelim sketch, just started with the dark shapes.

Several years ago, I (gratefully) won a large set of Pan Pastels. At the time, I had little curiosity about them, no interest.
Today, I think differently.
This is ENTIRELY Pan Pastels! @6" x 9" on mauve Pastelmat.

Scaled up an earlier one. This is 12 x 8, on yellow-tan Pastelmat. Layers of Pan Pastels, Nupastels, Great Americans and Blue Earths.
I like the smaller one better ( 8 x 6"). Enlarging and repeating a painting does not work for me. I lose all spontaneity.

Crop of a the start of scale-up of an earlier one. Will finish tomorrow afternoon, I hope. It's 12" x 8" ( to go in a frame I already have), but may not work out. I have not been successful at that scale-up process.

12" x 16" on gold Pastelmat. Various pastels. From the first photos I took on the 1st day of our visit to the Giant Redwoods. Have put off attempting to capture the feeling of deep awe since 2016.

These are two steps in the process of a new painting. Just a small, cropped @1.5" square sample. I will complete it tomorrow. I love the process/result, but it is nerve-wracking and time consuming.
