"My Mother's Day Blooms" 12 x9 on anthracite pastelmat, entirely with PanPastels. I did it from life, freehand, no sketch. Might leave this as is, then do a 2nd, my traditional way, tomorrow. Or maybe finish this with soft pastels. We'll see.

"Happy Mother's Day" . 8 x 6 on mauve Pastelmat from my own photo. It was actually a Valentine's Day table, hence the Hershey's kisses, but works today too. 2nd photo is the Pan Pastel underpainting. Cool, eh?

Revisited one I did earlier in this marathon, never liked, never finished. Went over it all with Pas Pastels, then painted with Great Americans for a painterly look.

9" x 12" on anthracite pastelmat. First photo is all Pan Pastels with the one large sponge. Second is final, after working with mostly Great Americans to add depth and some loose detail. From one of my older still life set ups.

Several years ago, I (gratefully) won a large set of Pan Pastels. At the time, I had little curiosity about them, no interest.
Today, I think differently.

Scaled up an earlier one. This is 12 x 8, on yellow-tan Pastelmat. Layers of Pan Pastels, Nupastels, Great Americans and Blue Earths.
I like the smaller one better ( 8 x 6"). Enlarging and repeating a painting does not work for me. I lose all spontaneity.

Crop of a the start of scale-up of an earlier one. Will finish tomorrow afternoon, I hope. It's 12" x 8" ( to go in a frame I already have), but may not work out. I have not been successful at that scale-up process.

"Light Through Redwoods" .

A portion of a 16 x 12 new painting. Seeing if my new hatching effect works on a landscape. Final tomorrow. These take several hours.

These are two steps in the process of a new painting. Just a small, cropped @1.5" square sample. I will complete it tomorrow. I love the process/result, but it is nerve-wracking and time consuming.
