PI of lab in the areas of protein lipidation and transition metal transport and homeostasis. Interested in how nature does chemistry. Opinion my own and does not represent anyone else.
This is perhaps empowering -

Some may consider this amusing. I don’t.

This year's Nobel Prize in chemistry made my mind wander back to my days as a graduate student in the Chemistry and Chemical Biology Dept. at Harvard and brought back memories of another stalwart in chemistry and Prof. Yaghi's postdoctoral mentor, Prof. Richard Holm.

Last day of Roles and Regulations of Protein Lipidation in Health and Disease meeting
Soft condensed matter physics and complex aerodynamics never let name tags stay right side up. Solution ? Print on both sides! Also, thank you @biochemsoc.bsky.social for NO plastic covers.

@GRC, taking notes ?

Last day at Cell Biology of Metals GRC on the University of Southern Maine campus. Like every year, I learned an amazing lot, made new friends with young and senior scientists and caught up with old friends I have been meeting and admiring thoughout my independent career. Look forward to 2027.

Fantastic 3rd day at Metals in Biology GRC in Ventura, CA.

Zeroth law of conference attendance- external forces, typically wind, will conspire so that your name tag always ends up facing the wrong way. There must be underlying physics behind this ? 😀

Amazing first half of 2nd day at Metals in Biology GRC in Ventura, CA. I carried my own coffee mug and saved the plastic name tag holder from a previous GRC. We can all take care of the environment in our own ways if we want to.

A privilege to host Bil Clemons @profbilc.bsky.social at the NIH Intramural Program for the Wednesday Afternoon Lecture Series. A fantastic talk about how phages use proteins to target bacterial cell wall biosynthesis machinery and a truly insightful lesson about inequity in science and society.

My morning ritual on weekends and holidays. @madamescientist.bsky.social , do you use a brass filter coffee maker ? Is the folklore around them being the “real deal” real ? Anyone else, please feel free to educate.
