So far, in 2025, atmospheric carbon dioxide is at a record level, likely worsened by a sudden drop in land carbon uptake partly due to El Niño and intense forest fires.

Yep, agree.
We've already been subjectively & on paper 'balancing', triple-bottom-lining, & no-net-lossing Australia's biodiversity & ecosystems to death over the last 25 yrs of the EPBC Act. Despite it, everything's in decline - death by a 1000 cuts.
Now it seems that process will be fast-tracked.
