It’s that time of year again.
This year my charity sketch sale is exclusive to BlueSky. I’ve got a smaller following here than on other social media channels, so I hope this works out! More details in the alt text.
I’ll be posting the first sketch this evening at 9pm (GMT). See you there?

With current pledges, the world's on track for 2.6°C of warming in 2100 compared to preindustrial levels.

10 years ago, before the Paris agreement, it was 3.6°C

20+ years ago, we thought it would be 4-5°C

So 2.6°C is better, but the problem is that climate impacts are way worse than we predicted.
World still on track for catastrophic 2.6C temperature rise, report finds
Fossil fuel emissions have hit a record high while many nations have done too little to avert deadly global heating

I still don’t know why Trump is so mad about that Ontario tariff ad. It’s not as if Ontario ran an ad depicting the province dumping a load of faeces on an American crowd. Now, that would’ve been truly disgusting.

That Trump got away with his mishandling (theft?) of classified documents is bad enough but that he then uses classified documents as an excuse to go after his opponents is just… no words. We live in the worst timeline.

On MSNBC, @samsteindc.bsky.social
says in response to the vile video, "it's just Trump" and then dismisses it.

We have to stop saying this.

Saying this sort of thing, and continually dismissing his behavior lets him get away with outrageous behavior.

A pattern is developing where everyone who fights back against a Trump attack inevitably wins with their reputation much better than before, and everyone who caves to him looks like shit and has Trump coming back for more a month later.

Walz showed us the way. Just keep hammering on what the extremist positions actually are. Neighbors taking care of each other is normal. Being hateful is not.

The enemy is pluralistic ignorance. The majority of people may privately disagree with loudest/best financed voices but won't speak up.
100% agree, this framing wrecks everything. But how do we handle the very-real-for-many desire to be perceived as sober/moderate/not extreme? (everyone thinks they’re middle class, etc.)

So much of the crisis is the fact that liberals are unwilling to describe what's happening, because they're scared to say that their opponents are lying, are operating in bad faith, want evil or harmful policy, and don't share our basic goals about what society should look like
