Green things were sprouting on today's walk.
A lot of dead leaves and sticks, with a few shoots of green and one red camoflaged skunk cabbage shoot. Spring has sprung.

I hit up the Henry Ford Museum with my bestest friend this weekend and didn't realize that:
1) Greenfield Village is closed until mid-April
2) They had a Wallace and Grommit special! It was a setup like you'd find at a kids' science museum, rathan than a "making of" sort of thing. But I enjoyed it.

During a walk this week, I saw this goodly stick.
Almost forgot to share my luck with the rest of you!
A goodly, thick, mostly-straight heavy stick with delightful textures in an almost pink pale color. It is leaning against a very lean fallen branch, or possibly a whole baby tree. It has smooth shiny bark. This is along a walking trail through a small forest. The trees have not begun to get their spring leaves, and last year's leaves are still thickly strewn across the forest floor.

In a Very Bagel Problem, my yarn ball fell out of my pocket during yesterday's #lunchcrochethike and I made a very long snake out of yarn. Follow me for more simple crochet patterns!
A gravel-and-dirt path, with winter-browned grass on one side, and brush full of dry leaves on the other. Down the side of the path is a length of rope, probably fifteen feet long, ending in a ball of yarn on the far end.

It's rude that the cat gets to do this, but I don't.
There is a cat, sleeping on a pillow, underneath of a blanket and a heated blanket. She's giving me *a look* by peeking out at my camera with a single eyeball. Her pink nose has freckles and I am pretty sure it's just her spiciness showing up on the outside. You can also see one of my fingers and a knitting needle sticking up from behind her, and the corner of my glasses as I look at the camera, because I don't understand perspective.

I looked pretty at work today.

I had to replace my deadbolt today and my boss asked about it earlier, clearly expecting me to have A Story. As if my home projects EVER have drama.
I finally got it done, and at one point, my door looked like several tropical drinks. So I guess MAYBE he has a point.
The inside of my doorframe. The wood and weather stripping is quite scratched up because my cat Trinity LOVES to use it as a scratching post. The steel storm door is also a disaster and is missing the top glass. In the spot where an extra long strike plate goes against the inner door frame, there is bare wood, with three miniature paper umbrellas sticking into it, because I needed to fill in the holes enough to drive fresh screws in. The umbrellas are yellow, green, and bright blue. They each have floral painted designs.

I was afraid I'd get bored of this shawl. It's a 4-row repeat, at 396 stitches per row. But it's working up faster than I thought it would. Plus, the yarn gradient progresses every 3 repetitions, so it keeps it interesting.
Approximately 9 repeats, at 4 rows per repeat, of shawl. I am following a pattern named Grapevine, by Courtney M Cox. It is a knitted shawl, and I am using a gradient cake of yarn. THe color starts with a forest green, gradiating to a jeweled purple color, then proceeds to gradient darker, then to a brighter, emerald green. I am knitting it on number 7 ChiaGoo brand circular needles that are 40 inches long.

I treated myself to a new stud for my cartilage and it actually fits AND is very comfy. I've worn it through a few showers and a week of nightly sleeps, and it hasn't budged.
Also: I think I need more holes in my head soon.

A tube of crocheted dark blue fabric, nine inches wide and 5.5 inches tall. There is a red 5.5mm sized Tulip brand crochet hook on top. The crochet is all front post double crochet stiches, which is one of the most annoying stiches known to earth-dwelling crochet artists. But it makes a lovely, dense, but stretchy fabric that is perfect for a Very Warm Hat/cowl combination piece. Which this will be, eventually.

I had a really good weekend show, and I'm one step closer to seriously considering quitting my job and doing shows full-time.
Until the next show when I barely cover costs, and realize that I still need healthcare. And I can't afford to pay myself the bonuses that my boss pays.
A crochet cowl that I have started making. It starts with ten stitches across and gets wider every other row. It's made witha mottled purple-dyed yarn. My crochet hook has 70's-style floral motifs. The whole thing is laid out on top of my laptop keyboard.

Decided to work on earrings in batches, based on themes. This past weekend was butterflies.
5 pairs of earrings. They each have butterflies as pendants, with chainmaille sections to make them dangly. 3 pair are pink. One pair is yellow. One pair is blue. There is also a pair of white kitty paws showing on the table behind them.
