I’m not denying what you and your circle felt in the 90’s but you can’t really quantify the attitude and thoughts for the future of those outside of that circle. History records attitudes shifting around the late 90’s and early 00’s.

Yeah, but in the 90’s the GOP won the house and senate, in numbers not seen in 40 years, huge majorities and popular vote wins. They even released what they called a “contract with the American public” a conservative manifesto, on the steps of the capitol. It was a conservative golden era lol

Yeah fair but, that’s not what you said. The 90’s were not more progressive than today and, the anticipation that folks felt that things would change is another conversation completely.

The early 90’s verifiably and objectively some of the most conservative years in modern history.

Yeah u may have to die on that hill, support for SSM was at less than 40% compared to todays 70+%, a wave of censorship was sweeping the US with LGBTQIA+ themes banned on daytime television. LGBTQI bullying in schools were at alarmingly high rates. The GOP won control of the house in a HUGE majority
