Inspired by Celtic/rock hybrid songs like “I’m Shipping Up To Boston”, "Here Comes the Monster" connects the music genre most associated with the ocean with the fish most associated with fishing, and ups the intensity. It’s written in B-minor because B stands for bass.

"Shanty on the Dock" is heavily inspired by sea shanties. It was made before the game’s leitmotif was established, hence why it is one of only songs in the soundtrack that don’t incorporate it. It was also one of the few songs that were made that didn’t require a second draft!

One of my favorite musical tidbits is that each boss theme has a unique style that conveys identity. “Small Fry” is a synth-orchestral hybrid song, conveying a slight sense of unnaturalness that would be felt when encountering a minnow several hundred times larger than average.

"Swamp Sweet Swamp" was one of the first created songs for Bait & Tackle, and directly influenced a number of future tracks. It was the first to use piano as its main melodic instrument, and was the first to use the game’s leitmotif.
