The confidence of it is pretty infectious. I do like how one of the big three anniversary episodes was one of the weirdest we’ve ever had. I suppose you can tell a story like that when the Doctor/companion pairing is one that the audience unconditionally loves.

Exactly the same. I’ve tried to get into it, because in theory it’s the definition of something I should love. But I hit a brick wall and abandoned it after about four or five episodes. Tried it again on Britbox recently, hoping I’d have an epiphany and want to buy the blu-ray, but… nope.

The second episode shows the #TOTP debut of The Divine Comedy and is therefore the absolute highlight of the weekend.

Such a clever, thoughtful performance by David in those episodes, too. The same, but different, as we all are twenty years later. It would’ve been so easy to have done it as a heightened version of his original Doctor, as often happened in anniversary stories, but he played against that.
