I don't think I need to spend too long diagnosing the fault on this one...

My second river table done, walnut this time. Took a while to finish as life kept getting in the way of me being in the shed.

He's even flatter now. Still grumpy though

Work in progress but I'm getting there!

Why have the squirrels chewed Thier way into my chainsaw fuel?

A bit of an experiment, a prototype ring presentation box. Learned a lot. Like it can be a lot smaller, how to set up my band saw to make really straight cuts...

And I have learned to measure twice cut once, for about the 17th time. Maybe it will stick this time

I have a frog doing that at the moment. His one brain cell is completely focused on other things...

Twin axle trailer at work. Zero brake function. Customer declined repairs.

Because there is no legal requirement for inspections on trailers this thing is back on the roads carrying 2 ton of gear up the motorway at 60mph

Just realised I haven't posted Beezle in here before. He's an albino pacman frog. About 9 months old and in a constant state of grumpyness

They look great, if slightly concerned in the desert camouflage scheme

A few hours relaxing on the lathe yesterday, a traditional sycamore fruit bowl, 10" x 3". Sycamore is often overlooked because if you don't use really sharp tools it can suffer from tear out. However I really like the smooth light colour and subtle ripples in the wood.

Don't you love it when customers try to fix it themselves, can't, put the thing back together wrong and turn a simple £5 fix into £300 worth of replacement parts instead?

Yew is my favourite wood to work with, there is always such gorgeous patterns and figuring in the wood. Together with the rich golden colour yew always stuns me

If you see this post an image you saved just because it made you laugh

Was debating if I should post this one or not but what the hell. Its a one off so here goes.

Ash and resin. The blank was originally intended for a coat hook base but I had a daft idea and made these stocks. The resin colour doesn't really suit them though

An elm box project finished. Love how the resin came out but struggled a bit hollowing the lid

I know to do things differently in future

It's done, at last. Learned a lot when it comes to finish application

Remembrance day has been massively corrupted over the past few decades.

It's turning into a flag shaggers nationalist event. Dressing houses up in plastic decorations and glorifying the very things that sent entire generations to Thier deaths while kids play with plastic hats and wave union flags.

Almost done. Just need to wait for the varnish to cure for 7 days then I can buff it and mount the legs
November 5, 2024 at 10:07 AM
Needs a few more coats of varnish but I'm liking how it's coming on so far
