Victory! SBCTA is cancelling the ONT Tesla Tunnel project - which would have duplicated BRT with an tunnel for cars - after construction costs escalated to $1-2 B. Time to pivot to electrification and 15 minute service on the San Bernardino line, planning for future multi-use heavy rail to ONT.

The Bay Area is at risk of massive transit service cuts if we don't pass a 2026 regional funding measure.

It cannot be overstated how disastrous cuts would be for our entire region.

Please read this thread for actions you can take to save Bay Area public transit. And share to spread the word! 🧵⬇️

Just called Cortese’s office, he’s usually pretty good on transit issues so I think he should be gettable here. Other South Bay ppl should do the same!

SB 79, our transit oriented development bill, will be coming up for a vote in the legislature sometime in the next 72 hours. Calling your state legislator and asking them to support the bill makes a real difference and WILL help it pass. Use our simple tool to find their contact info:
SB 79 (Wiener) could be heard on the Assembly floor today!

NIMBYs are calling and potting against SB 79.

Don't let them speak for you - please call and ask your Assemblymember to vote AYE on SB 79, and ask your friends, family, and frenemies to do likewise.

Without this promised emergency loan from the state, millions of people in the Bay Area will suffer due to the steep cuts to transit service, the worsening traffic, and the rise in pollution.

Man if even the most basic stopgap funding measures are getting screwed over like this, I’m really not liking the long-term outlook for Bay Area transit
We’ve been informed by the Governor’s Department of Finance that it won’t agree before our legislative session ends (on Friday) to finalize a $750M bridge loan to Bay Area transit.

This loan was agreed to in our June budget. Without it, BART, Muni, et al will cut service.🧵

BART service wouldn't meltdown if California funded transit.

In July @governor.ca.gov promised an emergency loan to stop Bay Area transit cuts.

But with just a few days left to issue the loan and Newsoms hasn't made good on his promise.

Please call and remind him!

Gov Newsom still hasn't signed the $750m loan to Bay Area transit agencies that would get us to the Nov 2026 funding votes. He has eight days to act.

Please take a moment to call his office at (916) 445-2841 and use the attached script, copied from a @transbaycoalition.bsky.social.
