Studies show that combining alcohol with cannabis is potentially harmful. Why is it so common among young adults? Depression and anxiety may be a risk factor for mixing cannabis with alcohol. Can specific reasons for combining cannabis with alcohol help us understand why this relationship occurs?

Recent research shows that trauma-related coping motives for cannabis and a medicinal cannabis use orientation contribute uniquely to cannabis outcomes, and that trauma-related coping motives may mediate a link between PTSD and cannabis problems.
