Clouds broke up a little, sunset makes the trees look like they are on fire.

My fire building little man. Started him early. Helps his mom & dad are firefighters. But, they freak out when I let him play with fire. I figure if it gets out of hand, they can take care of it.

A doe passed through the creek yesterday am. We see deer tracks at the stock pond all the time. She’s unusually close to the house.

I left the hay wagon for 10 seconds. Nothing but a little bit of shake in there, the alfalfa is on the ground. 🤷‍♀️

I went to the south porch to drink my coffee, so the horses wouldn’t see me & bang on the gate for breakfast. Cash found me. He’s going to just stare at me until I get up.

Oh.

Tonight’s sunset, from my drive way. There’s a layer of fog forming in the front pastures, at the top of the hill. It was pretty.

A sleeve of alfalfa on the ground isn’t enough, they want the crumbs in the hay wagon too.

64° here & sunny. I’m outside enjoying temps not being 80+ and before the next flood arrives (tomorrow). I was looking for the equines, but they are off in the woods. Or maybe front pasture. So, sunning with Leo & Bruce.

Julius & Gilligan (pretending he gets to share the sun spot).

Oh. We just got added to the flood watch. In effect until 6 pm Friday.

It’s flooding at Camp Mystic again. Good thing both camps are still closed.

Vader: 4 months old, Rip 11/18/25. Daughter rescued him dodging cars in Cleburne 4 weeks ago. He’d had a trip to the vet, no issues noted, rabies shot & neutering scheduled. Daughter found him seizing on the floor @ 7 am, rushed him to the ER vet. FIP suspected, they couldn’t stop the seizures. 💔

Alfalfa all gone, time for donkey scratches. Jasmine is so sweet, gliding in to touch gently & ask for chest scratches - no pushing me out my chair.
November 16, 2025 at 2:54 PM
I didn’t put the alfalfa down fast enough for Blisse. She was trying to push me out of my chair. Alfalfa is out, everybody is happy now.

So, when it’s 88° midway through November & you have a decent winter coat growing, you lay down in the stock pond to cool off. Cash has it figured out.

We went to the top of the hill to see the aurora borealis. After reading an article on ‘the best way to capture it on your phone’. No pretty lights, but I did capture a great pic the light pollution over Ft. Worth. It’s much brighter in photos than with naked eyes.

Honoring my dad this Veterans Day: Clifford A Wheeler 6/1/33 - 2/19/98. Pic is circa 1956: stationed at Hunter Field in Savannah GA, where he met & married my mother. He did 3 tours to SE Asia during the Vietnam war. After tour 3 he retired as SMSGT, became a police officer, then a PD chief.

I came to sit on the south porch, to be alone. All the cats & dogs came too. We all be sunning, it’s 49°.

I have no idea where the snake went, but I found his skin under my hay wagon in the barn. We have a hen laying in the barn (instead of in 1 of the kazillion nest boxes). Big guy - I’m guessing he is rat snake, hunting eggs.

My 1st EAC donkey partner @ Paws For Reflection. He was great for couples with little kids.

He taught me how to listen, I think bc he was so clear about what he wanted. He changed colors every spring. When I trailered him, I was always afraid if I got stopped I’d get a ticket bc he didn’t match the color on his Coggins papers.

Jumper (1996 - 2019). His pic popped up in my memories today. It was like 500° & I was late with the pm showers. Caught him trying to hose himself off. He taught me so much, I’ll miss him forever.

It’s a big day today - we are hosting 23 counselors from Cleburne ISD. For an intro into EAC & EAL. I love the intros, so many ‘wow’ moments when humans are start to connect with horses.

The big guy was passing through again this morning.
