i think need to forestall what i charitably call a misunderstanding. “I call bullshit. How do you know what to order if you don’t know what people are reading??”

*anonymized circ stats.* we don’t need to know WHO is requesting or borrowing a book to know THAT it’s getting requested & borrowed. 📚

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Libraries! there's so much media available for free at libraries!

Did you know that you can read my publisher books for free if your local library carries it? if they don't, you can request them, and that helps me as the author, too! 🥰
If you have the Libby library app, you can request books from all the libraries you have access to with the click of a button! :3

If your library uses this feature and sees a bunch of Notify Me 🔔 's from their readers, they may look into purchasing the ebook or audiobook!

85 Democrats voting to condemn socialism in November 2025. That’s wild to me. Like, why are you doing that.

For the first time in my career, I can’t tell people to trust what the CDC website says. And that is an incredibly sad and devastating place for this country to be.
CDC has overhauled its website to assert that “the claim ‘vaccines do not cause autism’ is not an evidence-based claim”

Wait do I have it correct that Joyce Carol Oates said Musk was a shell of a man with no joy in his life and he totally saw it and said "No I'm not" and now he's searching the titles of different movies he likes and replying "great movie"

OVER A MILLION USERS

DISCUSS SUICIDE WITH CHATGPT

EVERY *WEEK*

what the fuck are we DOING here
Panera’s moderately caffeinated lemonade was loosely associated with 2 deaths before it was taken off market.

This article alone has 4 examples of ChatGPT encouraging young people to commit suicide, and OpenAI’s own public stats estimate over a million users discuss suicide with ChatGPT each week.

Newsom: The New Testament and Old Testament have one dominant thing in common—Matthew, Isaiah, Luke, Proverbs, go down the list—it’s about food, about serving those who are hungry. It’s not a suggestion; it’s core and essential to what it means to align with God’s will.

Distribution is THE under-reported story in book publishing (outside of the trade publications) and losing B&T is going to have untold ripple effects on the industry, small presses, and authors.
