Lina was about to disagree, but the serving girl seemed to take his standing up as a sign that they were done eating, and approached with a little notepad that presumably had their bill. Lina let them sort themselves out. One or two months, huh? I wonder what my life will be like in the meantime.

The one silver lining was that the move caught her opponent by surprise. She was suddenly very close to one of the foreigners, pinning their buckler between their bodies. She was of a height with them, so she did the obvious thing. She headbutted them. “Ow!” Myria snarled, stumbling backwards. “Motherfucker!” In the heat of the moment, she’d forgotten they were wearing wooden masks. She blamed her hangover. The bloody mask was hard, like headbutting a tree. The foreigners laughed and attacked again.
