The discourse around gentrification has gotten out of hand to the point where people think a plaza refresh in Inman Park of all places is displacing people. It’s getting frustrating to see the misinformation on IG and TikTok about this.

The mainstream media may not discuss it, but here's the fact:

Three people —Musk, Bezos & Zuckerberg — now own more wealth than the bottom half of American society.

A handful of corporations control what is produced & the prices we pay.

Capitalism is broken.

kinda funny that all it took to defeat traffic in the most crowded city in the country was only a simple $9 congestion relief zone

Why in the world is MARTA putting their drivers in danger by making them do fare enforcement? That’s the job of MARTA Police, not bus drivers.

Over in the other place, the billionaire owner is threatening to fund ‘moderate’ (rightwing) candidates in heavily Democratic districts too.

This is what oligarchy looks like. It’s the biggest threat to democracy today. Not ‘cancel culture.’ Not trans kids. Not college protesters.

Oligarchy.

The precedent set today should upset every American who believes in our democratic form of government.

It appears that from now on no major legislation can be passed without the approval of the wealthiest person in this country.

That’s not democracy, that’s oligarchy.

They have no problem posing manifestos of racists and school shooters so they have no ground to stand on when it comes to this instance.
The notion that reading a shooter’s statement will cause people to snap to attention and become homicidal maniacs, like some kind of Manchurian Agent trigger word, is media paternalism at its worst.

In tomorrow's meeting, City Council will vote to break their own ban on data centers near the Beltline & MARTA Stations.

Ask these Council members to vote "NO" on this proposal!

awan@atlantaga.gov

arfarokhi@atlantaga.gov

Lbakhtiari@atlantaga.gov

hshook@AtlantaGa.Gov

jwinston@atlantaga.gov
Atlanta residents, write to your councilmembers and asking them to drop support for letting yet another in-town data center wreck housing affordability, mobility, jobs, your electric and water bills.
10/ Finally, neighbors don't want it. City staff don't want it. My constituents in Mechanicsville, West End, and NPU-T don't want it. Their voices are clear on this. Yes, we often defer to the district Councilmember on a lot of things. But this impacts my district too. I'm voting No.
