Happy birthday to former diver and Patron of the Mary Rose Trust, HM King Charles III.

A keen supporter of the Mary Rose project from the early days, the King can be seen here visiting the dive vessel Sleipner in 1982, and diving on the wreck site in 1981.

When the Mary Rose was raised, her wet weight was 272 tonnes (150 cars, two blue whales, 30 T. rexs or 200,000 human brains)

That's not including the lifting cradle, which added another 72 tonnes/45 cars/0.7 blue whales/eight T. rexs/55,000 human brains...

Assistance requested: came across reference to 'English East Indian ship' brought 'a peice [sic] of Lywaet, which is very good' to Cormontine, 23 October 1658 (n.s.). 'Lywaet' (translator's spelling) is unknown to me. Many thanks in advance for any and all advice #earlymodern #maritimehistory

Hi

Anyone know anything about #RoyalNavy #WW2 #NavalHistory

Is DMX 81867 a valid looking service number

Was confectioners foreman a thing or was it more likely a leading cook

Any tips on getting service records without a death certificate? I tried but they treated it as a SAR and denied it

TIA
