Accidentally stumping into a Mrs. Roper event nearby and seeing women unapologetically flamboyant, extravagant, and as eccentric as possible thinking to myself, “Yes, this is the way.” In a world of t-shirts and sweats, be a Mrs. Roper. It’s kaftan time!

If these are all distractions, what do you think is the main issue we are being distracted from seeing? Because to me, it’s the economics of oligarchy that very few political figures are willing to discuss or address in a meaningful way…
I wrote about Democrats' obsession with calling Trump's actions a "distraction," and how it reflects their failure to understand the modern media ecosystem.

To some Democrats, everything Trump does is designed to distract you

Lots of leftist purists wouldn’t show up to the #nokings rallies but here’s my question…when you call for solidarity, who do you expect to find it with? Maybe the call to action didn’t go far enough…but surely it was better than staying home altogether? Talk to people who are different from you!

Just want to take a moment to shout out the international reporters helping us get the real story out. When an 80-year-old veteran with a walker is hauled off with his hands zip-tied behind his back, and the media spins it as a “threatening breach” of a police barricade

Let’s be clear. Trump's arrest of Judge Dugan in Milwaukee has nothing to do with immigration.

This latest attack is about one thing: unchecked power.

It is time for my colleagues in the Republican Party to stand up to his growing authoritarianism.

BREAKING: A federal judge blocks Trump from stripping hundreds of thousands of federal workers of their union rights.

The White House tried to end collective bargaining for workers at numerous agencies by invoking national security.

A U.S. District Judge just shot them down.

Inspector General Probes Whether Trump, DOGE Sought Private Taxpayer Information or Sensitive IRS Material
The request, spelled out in an email obtained by ProPublica, comes amid concerns that DOGE has overstepped its bounds in seeking highly restricted private information about taxpayers, public employees...

Here’s the thing. Every one of these people in tears heard Trump on the stump before Nov. They knew he was cruel. But they were fine with it, thinking he’d only hurt the people they didn’t like. The problem with cruelty—It spreads. You don’t get to control it. Sooner or later, it comes for you too.

Just putting this here for later when everyone looks back as to what the right moment was to leave the U.S. It is now. Right now. All of the unauthorized access to government data & drones rolling up on our shores is the clue for me.
But most of us aren't in a position to leave…and we will suffer.

How about AI updates any new doctor or therapist with the relevant history of the patient prior to a first visit and reminds them ahead of follow-ups? It is exhausting just getting them up to speed every time and trying to figure out what they need to know. I already know they can’t remember it all.

It MUST be a conspiracy that an app did the obvious and connected people to what they want to see & enjoy, not just what will enrage them. No one in their right mind would ever give the consumer/user what they want…

Surely Facebook could never have done this.
There is a reason TikTok is so good at figuring out what you want to see, and why it’s better than everything else: it’s a weapon, and the best weapon is one you don’t know exists, or worse, one you think you can’t live without

Day 2 of FB blackout and I just learned that my mom passed away yesterday. This is something I would normally have shared there, and it does kind of suck not to be able to do that. Feels a bit like my hands were chopped off.

But also, it forces me toward live interactions that are more impactful.

Day 1 realization without FB: the instant gratification aspect of posting my writing on social media prevented me from putting in longer term effort on something more substantial. Getting dopamine from a quick post satisfied me in a way that didn’t require me to revise, edit, improve. 🤦🏻‍♀️

So many things I would normally be posting on FB right now that I have nowhere to put…

I miss my FB friends but do they notice I’m gone? The parasocial relationships & ambient intimacy make us feel closer than we are, but who will actually reach out to check in? Who’d do the work to talk w/o FB?

Facebook won’t show your post to many people if it links to another site like Youtube, Twitter, Spotify, etc. It won't show your post of it goes to Medium, Substack, or any site that isn't paying them for ads. All the shadowbanning we were paranoid about is real, but it’s so much worse than that. ⏬
