As Orktober comes to an end I want to remind those who struggle with mental health that the Orkish way of "trust the process" is valid . So much so that I had to write about it over on nesslabs , a community setup by @neuranne.bsky.social .

No doubt most of us are aware of the aphromism “fake it till you make it” , for which Wikipedia suggest there is no single point of origin in who wrote it. I have seen similar concepts shared in writings about productivity and creativity that and to some extent the activity in improving my own self esteem feels very much like I have to fool my brain into believing its doing better.
Which brings me to Orks.
Its October , which for many in the tabletop miniature painting community tends to become “Orktober”. We share our creations, painting, miniatures and games, that are on the whole Ork based. These fictitious creations of the Games Workshop Warhammer game exist as part of a tabletop wargame Warhammer 40k , and the earlier Warhammer range, but lets not get into GW Lore.
Orks in the lore of Warhammer can build and make things and because as they “believe its true” so it becomes true .
That struck a chord with me because; whilst Fake it till you make it is popular I also found it began from a negative; which irked me. When I thought about how the writer and designer for the Ork race had gone with “they Believe it strong enough then it becomes true” It struck me as far more positive. I also realised that I was to my own self making an effort to reflect on what was good and in doing so feeling better that from a position of Curiosity then Observation I was creating a better view of myself.
In working through Tiny Experiments I am minded of Chapter 1 where the discussion of the Goal setting I was minded just how important the action in beginning was and when I considered my current experiment I realise just how important it is to Believe these actions are changing me positively or as another friend would phrase it as “Trust the process”

Something I note in reading this book and attempting the weekly goals is .
1. It's very much writers and movie focussed
2. It's of an age pre internet , pre social media
3. It does require you to lean heavily into what genuinely feels like woo woo. Then again so did EMDR .
