Pie 11. I can absolutely T the D in this pie it was excellent. Almost like sticky toffee mince pie with a great pastry. This pie is just fractionally below the Waitrose limoncello one (the Haaland of pies). 9/10 the Gabriel of this years mince pies .

Pie 10. Sainos T the D. I certainly can T that D and it does not compare favourably to either Waitrose or Marks. An average pie; decent pastry, decent fruit, prob 3-4mm of empty space in the one I tried which is a big detractor. Overall 5/10 if this was an FPL player it’d be Wirtz.

Pie 8. Second pie of the night and it had a hard job to follow number 7 but this was very fruity and the mincemeat was almost chewy it was so dense which I can’t decide is a good or bad thing. The smell of it hit me as soon as the pack was opened which was nice. 7/10 this is the Minteh of pies.

Pie 7. Excellent pie. Buttery as you like and a nice touch of spicyness in the mincemeat. Really high standard. 9/10 if it was an FPL player it’d be Declan Rice.

Pie 6. Aldi again. Impressed with this one. Traditional pie but executed very well. Ample filling (that’s what she said). Pastry nice and rich and not too crumbly. Left me nicely satisfied (that’s also what she said). Strong 8/10.

Pie 5. Had my reservations about rum in a pie but this worked. I would like to have this again with cream but I’m smashing the pies enough already as it is without adding variables too. Pastry 8/10. Filling 8/10. Just the tiniest hint of a quiver from the taste of booze at the end. Overall 8/10.

Pie 5. Had my reservations about rum in a pie but this worked. I would like to have this again with cream but I’m smashing the pies enough already as it is without adding variables too. Pastry 8/10. Filling 8/10. Just the tiniest hint of a quiver from the taste of booze at the end. Overall 8/10.
Pie 3. Greggs. Classic shallow pie but filled to the brim with a very decent mince. Not overly sweet but sweet enough that it made me question the sense in eating as many pies as I intend to eat this year. Pastry a touch dry but otherwise strong. They went to town with the icing sugar too. 6/10.

Pie 2 of 2025 right after pie 1. I have mixed feelings about non-traditional pies but this again was excellent. Very fruity and left me feeling like a million bucks. Would pair well with custard I think though cream would be the more traditional choice were I not a hypocrite. 8/10.

In an attempt to justify my ludicrous mince pie intake I shall be critiquing them this Yuletide season.
For my first pie of the season this one was really exceptional. Juicy and lemony with a nice pastry and a good level of filling. Ate this one at room temp after a roast. 9/10.

Yet more good fortune as I got away with a bad captaincy call and again left decent points on the bench but still ended up with a small ⬆️ up to 10.5k. Initially was intending to drop Salah at this point but might just roll it this week I think.
