if you need all of this to get into a PhD program now, i think faculty, departments, and institutions need to be honest and admit they don’t want to teach and just want cheap, high-quality labor because learning these skills are the entire point of a PhD program

i don’t disagree with this and it’s all true but: i think it’s good people are shocked

these actions are an escalation of state violence but moreover, they’re not as hidden (which we know cops of all flavors love!) and it’s happening everywhere
