This is great data. Has anybody looked at this nationally? Would be great to see how this looks across large metro areas.
in 1990 seattle grabbed swaths of land to upzone hoping to create 100k homes. the debate that upzones cause displacement is a myth. over the next 30 years, the black population cratered in single family zoned areas and grew where housing growth was allowed. density has saved our city’s diversity

Since 2003, the United States has built 2.4 subway stations per year, while China has built 200 per year.

We gotta get serious about building things as a country again.

This is what happens when you actually let developers build housing.

In Austin, rent has dropped 15% from its peak and buildings are offering multiple months FREE! 🤯

Sixplexes can be adorable too! Hope we don't have to wait too long to legalize them in every "single family" neighborhood in Austin.

Alright! This is the first rendition of the much-requested "Diverse Urbanism Voices" starter pack, it currently includes lots of women which is great, but I would appreciate more POC urbanism account suggestions!

"Single family zoning" should be abolished nationwide.

It's just as absurd to think that any tract of land should be restricted just one housing unit per lot, as it is absurd to think, that any tract of land zoned for commercial uses should be restricted to one business per lot.
I saw the scariest thing last night and I still can seem to shake it.

"Austin set a new all time record [of traffic deaths]".

Yes - because many Austin streets are controlled by the state.

Pedestrian deaths in particular have decreased on streets controlled by the city and increased on streets controlled by the state: www.kvue.com/article/news...
