Jensen loves fashion❤️ Nathan & Evan both tease him about it, but he buys clothes for the feel and fit as determined by his sensory preferences first- it just so happens that good quality clothes often feel better!

Evan is afraid of dressing too fashion-forward in case it draws unwanted attention, so he sticks to few colors or trends. he also has lots of body image issues stemming from his Big Illness a few years before B&W, and wears his old (now too-big) clothes as a perpetual self-flagellating reminder

Nathan only think about clothes insomuch as he dresses for utility & practicality- he’ll stitch up holes & darn his own socks until new purchases are necessary. he starts dressing a little better once he has a permanent life w Lawrence & co, but it’s never on the forefront of his mind

Lawrence is absolutely fastidious about his hair, dress, and hygiene, because he needs a routine to make him not feel like a failure and project the respectability he does not feel. it’s also what draws Nathan to him- N admires his put-togetherness after so much chaos in his own life

what’s more of a discussion (and what I’ll talk about a lil here) is the attention they pay to their level/formality of dress, because that comes up more than you’d think and says quite a bit!

pretty much! their version of a contrast to day to day life comes more in the city life vs going-to-prison pipeline 3 of the 4 have to go through 😭

Lawrence grew up in pre-suburbs suburbia, so he had the most exposure to nature and can fit in best with the outdoors, though he doesn’t seek it out too often. something about feeling exceedingly helpless if he were to break his glasses, whereas help is more readily available in a city

new things to admire in a quieter pace of life. Jensen ends up in the city he was born in, & relishes the chance to rediscover part of his life he feels like he was robbed of.

Evan’s family wasn’t as rough off as N&J but still urban, & he’s def a city person. fun fact: he can barely swim!
