In my experience, people don't read profiles.
I want to recommend again 'Colouring the Rainbow' edited by Dino Hodge. A collection of queer First Nations stories. These stories are dense in content and an opportunity to understand queer and First Nation perspectives you'll not have even if you happen to be @queer or @FirstNation yourself.

“At the moment Australia literally gives half the gas we export away for free. Zero royalties, no PRRT paid on half the gas we export.”

Executive Director Richard Denniss chats with 3AW about how Australia is giving away most of our gas for free.

This is better news. Basically the foundations of more accessible HIV testing, especially useful in places without nice labs.
HIV monitoring on a chip
Researchers have developed a user-friendly, affordable diagnostic tool that can extend high-quality HIV monitoring beyond centralised labs.

Not great news for those of us with rough childhoods but not very surprising either.
Frequent nightmares accelerate aging, increase risk of death
Nghtmares independently predict faster biological aging and earlier mortality — even after accounting for other health issues — according to new research.

Israel is still committing genocide and now it's beyond obvious. To think a people who received this from the Nazis would copy it is disgraceful.
Israel has succeeded in starvation, and the global moral edifice has collapsed sharply
I step out of my tent every morning, burdened with exhaustion, drenched in sorrow, searching for anything I might be able to buy for my family, a family worn down by hunger. Their bodies are too weak ...

Passionvine Hopper nymph
Found mainly in Australia and New Zealand, this hopper belongs to a group of insects that mimic plant parts as a survival strategy.
And when they move?
They don’t crawl… they pop—jumping with explosive force.

Hoo-bloody-ray. This was needed long ago. Trucks here are the backbone of transport, not so much trains.
Australia now has its first national roadmap to electrify heavy vehicles. Urban freight is ready to roll electric, but interstate haulers will need 165 charging hubs + grid upgrades. The journey starts with pilot trials on key freight corridors. #auspol #trucks #ev

Very Trumpy, rather not smart of Albanese. Special treatment for race privileged enough to gain the PMs ear and obedience but racism of any darker skinned people will not put Universities in any jeopardy. Indeed, they've been doing it for years. So that's OK isn't it?

You know Israel's genocide is very repulsive but closer to home there's finally an official admission that we here in Australia did genocide of our Aboriginal peoples. It's a microstep but a rare glimmer of truth and hope. The genocide here, sadly, is much bigger than the inquiry's scope.
'This was a genocide': Findings from Indigenous-led truth-telling inquiry
After more than four years and over 1,300 submissions, Australia's first Indigenous-led truth-telling inquiry has handed down its final report, calling for major reform.

#maga do get one thing right though in an indirect way. They believe America was great and they should return to that greatness. It's a veiled admission that America in not great now.

The US, like all other empires have, is dying and even the dumbest deep down know it.

The god who is merciful seeks to control you as the source of the mercy. Therefore seek instead something else and take care where your sense of guilt takes you under the control of others.

You can ignore #reality, and most do just that. You cannot avoid reality's impact. If you also ignore reality's impact, you widen the denials of reality. This snowballs into silly mental gymnastics worthy of #yaketysax. Cascading error pileup is comedy.

Easier and less painful to accept the truth.

The urgency for which Australia needs to pull out of the bad AUKUS exploitation of us is now very high. We need to unravel from the thorny vines the US has gripped us in. The US are warmongers and unreliable allies and untrustworthy.

The US has bombed Iran. We're in Iraq repeat mode now. No WMD, lots of civilians will die, and a quiet withdrawal years later.
