i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Nancy Pelosi had an amazing career, which included recognizing when Democratic leadership should step aside. It's time to have that conversation with Chuck Schumer. It's hard to let go, it's hard to have faith things will be OK without you, but it's not Chuck's time anymore. He must feel that.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.
