Excellent movie. Saw this years ago and I just recently re-watched it. Still very relevant today and worth checking out.

A great Italian expression today: fare un buco nell'acqua, literally "to make a hole in the water." It means a wasted effort, a flop, useless work. Spero di non fare un buco nell'acqua oggi, and I hope you can avoid that too. Happy Friday!

“Metaphors are double agents. They say one thing and mean another.

When we invoke a metaphor, we dislodge words from their literal perch. Our words become ambidextrous, stretched by analogy.

We can say new things.”
For this unsung philosopher, metaphors make life an adventure | Psyche Ideas
Susanne K Langer understood the indispensable power of metaphors, which allow us to say new things with old words

I think the key here is to note that Socrates is referring to the life we’re *currently* living

so that changes can be made so as to improve it

and make it worth living

With all the madness and rhetoric in the media - I'm finding myself leaning into ChatGPT at times and noticing how it can help with reality testing. Has anyone else experienced this?

As we all tend to individually repeat patterns of behavior and relational interactions throughout our lives, it's almost as if as a species we do this collectively throughout history. What's happening now in the world is sickening and I almost feel like this is a bad dream.
