My favorite example of this is that in 1977 George Lucas got the idea thay C-3PO was once reassembled by a boy who worked for a junk dealer. Anakin making Threepio feels like an insane addition to the rest of us, but to Lucas it was elegantly closing a loop he had been living with for thirty years!
