- The Day the World Came to Town by Jim Defede, about the planes that landed in Gander, Newfoundland on 9/11. Cover to cover, a lovely story of people being caring and compassionate to each other amongst terrible and chaotic times. Seems incredibly relevant to our world today.

Ah great, good luck! The only trick is to make sure that the black sections are centered in the middle of the edge so that it meets up properly from one block to the next.

I’d love to see whatever you make!

I don’t sell it online, and in fact I drafted it by hand so don’t even have a file for it, but it should be easy to recreate yourself if you want. Fundamentally it’s just a bunch of Drunkard’s Path quarter-circles. Each block has two concentric quarter circles on each of two opposing corners

I’ve really enjoyed having this variety in my books, so I’m definitely going to continue reading more non-fiction. It worked out to about 20% of my total reading this year, which I think is about the right amount for me.

Truly I didn’t find it scary at all. The first-person protagonist is a gruesome monster, but it’s not written in a scary way. It’s just how her biology works.

- Floating Hotel by Grace Curtis. Mystery and adventure in a fabulous space hotel setting. I loved how each chapter follows a different character in the hotel.

- Lady Eve’s Last Con by Rebecca Fraimow. A very fun queer space heist.

- A Letter to the Luminous Deep by Sylvia Cathrall. A delightful epistolary novel. Mystery, romance, and a friendship that develops through a shared process of discovery

- The Last Hour Between Worlds by Melissa Caruso. Such a cool world, I want to explore it more. A gripping plot but saved from being too intense by the grounding presence of a lovely relationship.
