We have a fantastic time attending the NHGRI trainee conference in Philadelphia. Great and inspirational science! (And Ben Franklin is everywhere!)

Identify other genetic substructure ie, genetic similarity to disease. In CO Biobank, we found older ages had a higher proportion of genetic similarity to prostate cancer cases. Maybe selection bias where people with PC come to the health system for treatment and are recruited to the Biobank. (6/9)

Genetic similarity map adjustment & visualization. Even with bias in substructure estimates, the bias is not propagated for harmonization! Using a genetic similarity map is closer to a continuous representation of genetic ancestry in summary data & denser maps will likely improve harmonization (5/9)

Summix2 builds off our initial Summix method (AJHG 2021) characterizing finer-scale population structure using 50 reference groups compared to 5 continental level groups in v1. We use this to harmonize genetic summary data to match an individual or sample. (3/9)

Summix2 detects and harmonizes for genetic substructure in summary data increasing the utility of *all* genetic summary data, especially for admixed populations. (2/9)
