Love to discuss books, theology, baseball, dogs, and life as I experience it. Tired of the dystopian nightmare of billionaires holding us hostage on the socials. Fully aware this won't be my final stop.

I bought this house yesterday. I'm moving into it in a week. It's going to be amazing. I can't wait!

And, just because I hate having ALL my reading dictated by other people (buddy reads, book clubs, etc.), I also started this chunker this weekend.

I'm doing 2 buddy reads.

It's my first time doing any kind of buddy read, and I've been enjoying Storygraph's buddy read feature for a way to collect all the conversation in one easily accessible place.

Been working on the first one for about a month. Just started the second today.

It's hard for me to give energy to multiple platforms (because I am dedicated to not cross-posting word-for-word content), so I haven't been around here much lately.

Here's an apology tax. Bartleby and me just before going down for a nap yesterday.

Zuri, on the other hand, is a chubby and violent monster. In this video he's actually tamer than usual, but you can see the biggest difference in how he doesn't patiently wait for the feeder door to open, he thinks he needs to help it along 😅

So anyway. Those are my cats. Hope you enjoyed.

And now we come to the reason for the post.

I wanted to show you the different ways these two cats approach their feeders.

Malachi is pure class and grace, poised and calm, acting like royalty.

The one that CAN'T free feed looks a lot like Malachi, except he has NO Maine Coon in him, he's just a long-haired gray tabby. He should be around 9lb but, over the last 10 years, he's grown to 16lb b/c he cannot control himself around food. Much like our beagles. Much like myself. Meet Zuri.

So 5 or 6 months ago, I bought automatic feeders for my cats because we've had them 10 years and they've always free fed, but one is able to free feed without consequences and one definitely isn't. The one that can is a Maine Coon mix who's not as big as we hoped. About 12 pounds. Meet Malachi.

I cooked myself a somewhat complicated soup for dinner tonight.

If you know me (and most of you don't), then you know this is momentous.

If you don't know me, then, well, you should know that this is momentous!

I wanted to include this video on this post, but it wouldn't let me, so here it is separately.

This is Jackson deciding she was completely over the blizzard a few days ago.

This is my current read, but it's been really slow going. I'm 100 pages in but having trouble caring about any of the characters 😭

Anyway, as promised, here's one of my three beags. She's 12. Named Jackson, after Bo Jackson. Has a Charlie Chaplin mustache and does not suffer fools.

These replies are sorely lacking in Royals representation, so please allow me to introduce:

Kyle Isbel, MJ Melendez, Nick Pratto, Lucas Erceg

They're still rebuilding their hotness roster, tbf. They really haven't recovered since losing Alex Gordon, Lorenzo Cain, and James Shields.

I'm Audra. I work full-time as a book editor. I love to read. I love baseball, especially the Royals. I love dogs, especially beagles.

I never post about just one thing, so following me is about being along for the ride. Sometimes it's messy because so is life. But I do try to post dog pics often.
