1949 - Joel Eaves wins first SEC game, defeating Ole Miss 64-60.

Auburn would make 26 of their 34 free throws to topple the Rebels.

1993 - Auburn scores 73 points in the first half vs Troy State, the most in a half in school history.

Troy was playing their first season in D1 basketball after finishing the previous season as the D2 runner-ups.

Auburn would win 113-86.

1932 - The Southeastern Conference is formed.

Auburn is joined by Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Sewanee, Tennessee, Tulane, and Vanderbilt as charter members.

1941 - Auburn students gather at Langdon Hall to listen to President Roosevelt's "Day in Infamy" speech on loudspeakers following the Pearl Harbor bombing.

Classes were canceled and students were advised to stay clear of "war hysteria" until called upon.

1958 - Auburn Basketball begins their run of 14 straight week ranked in the top 25, the second longest streak in program history.

During the stretch between 12/8/1958 and 3/9/1959, Auburn was ranked as high as #2 in the country.

1985 - Vincent Bo Jackson is awarded the Heisman Trophy, Auburn's second such winner.

Jackson would defeat Iowa's Chuck Long in what was at the time the closest vote in Heisman history.

1921 - Auburn announced they would travel to West Point, NY to face Army the next two seasons.

Auburn hadn't traveled further than Austin, TX prior to these trips.

1893 - In what was only the second meeting between the two teams, Auburn and Georgia Tech played to a 0-0 tie.

The Auburn squad would finish the season 3-0-2.

2013 - Tre Mason rushes for 304 yards (3 yards shy of Curtis Kykendall's record in 1944) on 46 carries (a new school record) as #3 Auburn defeats #5 Missouri 59-42 in the SEC Championship Game.

1930 - Auburn officially adopts a golden eagle as the school's mascot.

A Mississippi farmer captured the eagle after attacking turkeys a few miles from campus. A group of citizens and students purchased the eagle for $10.

1997 - In Auburn's first appearance in the SEC Championship Game, the #11 Tigers took a 20-7 lead in the second quarter.

Peyton Manning and the #3 Volunteers were too much. Manning hit Marcus Nash on a 73-yard touchdown pass to win 30-29.

2008 - Auburn Basketball records 21 steals in the game against Louisiana-Monroe, breaking the school record.

Quantez Robertson had 5 steals as Auburn ran away with the 78-55 victory.

1999 - #5 Auburn tops Florida State 55-54 on the back of Doc Robinson free throws with 2.3 seconds remaining.

This game was the last time Auburn basketball reached the #5 slot in the rankings until 2020.

1949 - Auburn held a formal "burial" ceremony for Alabama following the Tigers' 14-13 victory.

4,000 people showed up to Cliff Hare Stadium to witness a torch-lit parade complete with an Alabama coffin.

1951 - Auburn Basketball played a group of soldiers from Maxwell Field.

Maxwell failed to score for the first 10 min and only scored one point before the end of the first quarter.

Sullivan received 355 first place votes, 60 votes more than second place.

Tornado warnings surrounded Legion Field, as #3 Auburn stormed to a 23-20 victory over #19 Alabama.

1972 - #2 Alabama had a 16-0 lead over #9 Auburn going in to the fourth quarter.

At the 5:30 mark, Bill Newton blocked a punt and David Langner scored the touchdown.

With 1:30 left, it happened again.

Auburn won 17-16.

1989 - The game itself was bigger than the final score. The Iron Bowl was at Auburn for the First Time Ever.

An emotional campus and fog from the shakers in the stand fired #11 Auburn to pull off the historic 30-20 win over #2 Alabama.

2001 - The 9/11 attacks postponned the Auburn-LSU until December.

The two teams were now tied for the SEC West title, and the delayed game would determine the Atlanta matchup.

Not much went right for Auburn, and LSU won 27-14
