Remember in May -- the White House launched a news website to promote positive press about the president. All of this is meant to create one singular narrative that frames Trump positively. To control the message, like authoritarians do. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
White House launches news-style site to promote favorable coverage of Trump
Administration’s news ‘wire’ will promote press releases, posts by high-level officials and positive news about itself

The list wraps its intent in an effort to whittle down and remove fake news. But, like the other hallmarks of this admin, Trump and the White House distort reality and constitutional principles like free speech by turning them on their head -- an authoritarian's go-to hit list to target dissent.

The list is a ready-made tracker for SLAPP suits, defamation suits, doxxing, harassment, and other chilling attacks on reporters and outlets.

All referred to a destabilizing lack of info, the dreadful understanding that they could be held for weeks or months w/o anyone informing them why they were being held at all. We heard how they begged for recourse — asked to speak with the outside world, for bond hearings, to protest their detention

They spoke of lights left on 24 hours a day and of interstate transfers that came without notice. They described food that was inadequately distributed and made them unwell. Of being forced to urinate and defecate in front of fellow detainees and guards. Of being humiliated and mocked by officers.

There was a disquieting sameness to the horror that was described to us. Those we interviewed despaired at how the detention centers were kept purposefully, horrendously cold, forcing some of them to huddle up against strangers.

The entire admin hides its horrors w/ new horrors. We forget yesterday's transgressions bc we're so horrified by today's. This is meant to distract, divide, neuter the public & independent institutions. It's no longer just a "free speech" or "democrat" issues. It's an all of us NOW issue.
