Didn't really catch a lot of election results tonight, because I was sitting through a city council meeting waiting to make my three minute comment on my town's trans sanctuary city resolution. Worth it.

Watched The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie last night. Brilliant movie, but my fundamental takeaway was that I should really get myself some round, tortoiseshell glasses.

The problem with this genre of comparison photos for me is that I had adopted the dykey haircut far in advance of the realization of why I liked it. It mutes the distinction quite a bit.

Attention New Hampshire: this does not count as a trail! Stop calling this bouldering problem "the twinway" like you're actually going to travel along it on two legs.

Oh come on, this has such clunky narration and dialogue because at every possible point she is using jargon from abolitionist literature. It's obviously intended to argue for something.

Part of that is its squat shape, better surface area to volume ratio, but the most important thing is that the heating elements are exposed. Most kettles have flat bottoms so that they're easy to clean, but this means less efficient heat conduction.

One thing that it doesn't have is a baseplate that it sits on to get power. It just takes a standard IEC cable. This is a little less convenient but on the upside it doesn't wobble on its baseplate as it boils like many kettles! Image

Recently, there has been a trend of fancy goose-neck kettles, which pour much better but limit the flow rate. Good for pour-over coffee, frustrating to fill a teapot with. Image

The best feature: It's shaped like a kettle. Kettles were shaped like that for a reason! The spout helps them pour fast and cleanly with minimal change in rotation angle. Most electric kettles are these carafe shaped things that pour terribly.

I'm so close to having reliable Internet: the fiber installers came today but not the tech with the ONT and router. No idea when I'll see him. Tantalus has got nothing on me.

So I went back and watched this again and it turns out I'm absolutely the space elf princess struggling to uphold familial traditions of excellence and honor, I don't know how I missed it before.
