Mum to three, mother-in-law, Nana! Authentic autism advocate. A few non-profit boards. Native Washingtonian. Lived in Denmark for 3 years in the 1980s. Proud alumna of UVa SEAS and BC Law. Retired but not done. 🎶 #Leguminati (No unknown DMs please.)
I just borrowed Fault Lines. Was especially drawn to year 1974 in subtitle - I was 18. Worked as summer intern at USDA/REA & followed Watergate. But between college, marriage, moving overseas, 3 kids (including 1 autistic), moving back, law school, health issues, I missed a lot of history.

They told me that if you must get cancer, that's the one to have.

The details of your transaction with the bank, your application, credit history, SSN, list of assets owned, employment/income: all that is supposed to be private. It's between you & the bank. Remember all those privacy notices you get annually, which you just toss? Yeah. Pulte violated those.

(Priority of holders is important in case you default; determines who gets the proceeds of a foreclosure sale first. That's why mortgages are recorded in the public records.) Promissory Notes are commercial paper. The holder (lender) can sell it. If you die owning a promissory note, it's an asset.

The purchase of real estate is a matter of public record. You can go to the Registry and look up your deed. Also, mortgages get recorded because they establish the order of holders of a security interest, e.g. first your bank mortgage, then maybe a 2nd mortgage from your credit union, HELOC, etc.

Wonder what they are telling that 10-year-old boy this Thanksgiving? The one whose mother never arrived at his school to pick him up? 😔

My parents dressed me and my sister, ages 9 and 7, in matching seersucker skirt suits, which my mom sewed herself, for our solo flight from DC to Columbus OH in 1966. In my dad's judgment, not worth wasting film on preserving that moment.

DOGE did the job they were hired to do - upload all US citizen, government, business information, including tax/financial info, criminal records, travel records, health records, mortgage, education & residence info, etc. Nothing was left out except voting records and they are still working on that.

Apparently Usha neglected to dress him for this occasion. There was a really young guy in our law school class and we used to joke that his Mommy dressed him for interview days on campus.
